Gavin

So... Remember a few weeks ago when I posted about the Tom Thumb being robbed? Well there is also a Wendy's and Papa Johns and stuff in that same parking lot. Gavin was telling Courtney about what happened and these were his exact words....

"And they had to vacuum the Wendy's too!"

Haha. Vacuum. He meant evacuate. Haa

Gavin's in Tball now. I don't know if I mentioned that or not. The season has started, and his first game is April 10 so we're looking forward to that! He has his first practice this Thursday, and will hopefully be getting his uniform then too. I cant wait to watch him play!

Panic.

As we all know, Gavin will be four next month. At this point in his life, I don't feel like I need to be watching over him 24 hours a day. If he wants to eat candy (Reece's pieces to be exact) and watch a movie in his room, he is old enough to do so without me being right there next to him the entire time. This is how it all started yesterday. All of a sudden I hear a shrieking Gavin running down the hallway. I quickly rush to the next room to find Gavin, still frantically crying, with his whole pointer finger up his nose. While Kris stands there asking Gavin "what is wrong" and "why he is freaking out." (This is how a man handles the situation.) I am looking at the obvious signs and realize he has a Reece's pieces stuck up his nose. The chocolate is melting in his nose, and at this point, his nose is bleeding. Probably from Gavin sticking his finger up there trying to get it out, but only pushing it up further. He is freaking out. I am freaking out. I am just trying to stay away while Kris uses the tweezers to pull out the chocolate pieces, because in situations like this... I am completely worthless. When my children are in frantic pain, I do not handle it very well. I tend to just panic, which freaks the child out more. Kris gets the last chocolate piece out and we wipe Gavin's face clean. Now we want to know how the chocolate got up his nose, so we ask him.

"Gavin, how did that get up your nose? Did you stick it up there?"

"No. I didn't do it."

"Well then how did it happen?"

"Somebody must have twone it at me, and it went up my nose."

That is the answer we got.

Never a dull moment in this house, I swear.

Stayed in the house today

It's rare that I wake up before both kids, and get to have some peace and quiet before the munchkins are downstairs reeking havoc together. But this morning, I got lucky (or so I thought). I come downstairs and start flipping through the channels, trying to find something good to watch while I make breakfast. Three of my favorite movies happen to be on. Dirty Dancing, Serendipity, and The Family Man. I've seen all of them about a hundred times but I decide on Serendipity, then go into the kitchen to start breakfast. Right as I get the last piece of bacon on the griddle, I hear Gavin's voice. He comes running downstairs, insisting I put Spongebob on. About five seconds later, the baby monitor is blaring with Kenna's high pitched coos. There goes my peace and quiet. Let the chaos begin.

The weather yesterday was awesome. Sunny and warm. Today was the exact opposite. Cold and rainy. I did not want to take the kids out in the freezing cold, wet weather. So it was a perfect day to stay in and get some spring cleaning done, and that's what we did. It was a lazy day for the kids, and they got to spend the whole day in their pj's. Gavin likes helping me vacuum. He takes the hose to the vacuum cleaner and sucks up all the dust and dirt he can find. It keeps him busy for a while and is one less thing for me to clean. So he enjoyed that.

Kenna is crawling all over the place. She has recently discovered the dogs water bowls. Every time I sit her on the floor, she takes off straight to the water bowl, throws her hands in the bowl, then rubs them all over the hardwood floor. It is such a mess. Anytime she is being mysteriously quiet, I know exactly where she is. Oh! She took her first steps!! My Mom had the kids the other night. When we went to pick them up, I walked in and saw Kenna holding onto the coffee table with one hand. I shouted her name and threw my hands in the air and she looked over and saw me, threw her hands into the air and took two steps toward me. I swooped her up and started yelling... "She took two steps to me!!!" Haha I was so excited! Since then, she's been cruising all over the place. I'm just waiting for the day when she lets go of the couch and takes off on her own. Hopefully I'll have the camera near by!

Poop.

The kids where in the bathtub the other night. Gavin says.... "Mommy, I have to poop!" I quickly get him out of the tub, dried off, and on the toilet. He is trying to be a big boy and use the potty, and I look over at Kenna and her face is beat red. I stand up and look down into the tub to find that she is also pooping. I quickly get her out of the tub, dried off, and changed, while Kris drains the water and cleans the tub. Oh what a fun time that was. Gavin never ended up going on the potty that night. After him sitting on the potty for a good 45 minutes, we just put a pull up on him. Needless to say... 20 minutes later, he's pooped. Of course.

Fun with Thomas

Thomas the tank engine was in Grapevine yesterday. It comes here once a year and I have been wanting to take Gavin for a while now so we went yesterday. Kris had to work, so Claire left work early and went with us. It was so nice outside, except for it being the "windiest day of the year, so far," according to the news. Gav got his picture taken with Thomas and Sir Topham hat, and we went on the train ride. Then they had a lot of fun activities for the kids so we were there for almost four hours. He picked out some stuff from the gift shop... a conductor's hat, a Thomas watch, and a Thomas whistle. It was great, and I'm sure when Kenna is old enough to know who Thomas is, we will be going again. There is a new frozen yogurt place out there that opened two weeks ago so we stopped and had some before leaving. The red velvet was the best! Then they have all these toppings to throw on, it was good and Kenna loved the yogurt.

When we got home from Grapevine we relaxed for a while until Kris came home from work. He said as he was passing the Tom Thumb, he saw that police had the whole store, and surrounding stores blocked off. That was around 6:30. We went to dinner, came back and they still had it all blocked off but there were no news crews out there and this time we saw a bomb-defusing robot in the parking lot. We came home and Kris called one of the news channels to ask if they knew about it and they told him yes, there was a bank robbery and the robber left a suspicious package saying it was a bomb. The police had Tom Thumb closed until around 11pm. We watched the news but they didn't mention much about it so I don't know if they got the robber or what. It is pretty scary though, to think that that is the grocery store the kids and I go to almost everyday. Thank God we weren't in there when all this took place.

As for today, I have to run up to wally world for a few things. Then we are taking Gavin to a birthday party at a roller skating rink in Dallas. This should be very interesting considering Gavin has never roller skated before and I have no idea how to roller skate. He is very excited about going though, and I'm sure we'll have a blast. Hopefully they'll have his size roller skate. I will try to get some pictures while we're there!

Have a happy Saturday :)

Kiddos

Today is my Husbands first day at his new job. Wish him luck! I am dreading the moment when Gavin wakes up and asks where Daddy is. We've had him home with us for over a month now so we have been spoiled! But you gotta do what you gotta do, so back to work he goes.

The kids are doing great! Kenna had her nine month check up yesterday. She weighs 18.1 pounds, and is 27.25 inches long. She is a healthy little baby. As we were getting ready to leave for the doctor's office, Gavin goes... Mommy I don't want to go. I asked him why. He replied with.... Kenna is going to get shots and cry... I don't want her to cry! Sweet big brother! I think he was more afraid that once we got there, he was going to have to get shots too. Gavin is also doing good. He is *gasp* still not potty trained. I know, I know, he will be four next month! I think it is just a power struggle now. He knows he has control over whether or not he uses the potty. He knows when he needs to go, if he goes in his pull up, he wants to be changed right away, and he is holding it through the night. So he is MORE than ready to be potty trained. He just likes being in control. Anyway, he has been doing much better the past few days... Telling me when he needs to go and not having accidents so I hope this continues.

My babies are waking up now, so I will write more later.

Loving The Weather

We had fabulous weather yesterday. After having all the snow we've had this year, it was nice to finally be about 60 degrees yesterday. I like when its cool and sunny out. We ended up going to the Fort Worth Zoo with the kids, and it couldn't have been a nicer day. The first 30 minutes we were there, Gavin wasn't really taking anything in because he was "so hungry." But once we ate lunch, he was all better and loved seeing the animals. His favorites were the monkeys and the elephants, oh and the train ride... cant forget that. Kenna did really well, she was in her stroller most of the time and stayed awake until 5 minutes before we left. We were there for almost 4 hours, that zoo is huge! It was a lot of fun though, we all enjoyed it.

It is supposed to be in the mid 60s for the next few days so we'll be spending more time at the parks I'm sure, and maybe going to A Day Out With Thomas this weekend!

Kenna is totally crawling now!

I mean, she has been trying to crawl for a few weeks, but has finally gotten the hang of it. So as if she wasn't nosey enough before, she is into everything now. Now that she can get from one place to another by herself, she crawls to a table and pulls herself up, then lets go and tries to stand by herself. She will be walking in no time.

Cannot Believe My Boy Is Almost Four

I just cant seem to grasp my mind around the fact that my sweet little baby boy is turning four next month. Where has the time gone? I ask myself this every year. No matter how old he gets, though, he will always be my little baby.

I have no idea what we are doing for his birthday party this year. Every other year we have just thrown the party at our house with his bounce house and what not. So this year I want to have it somewhere else. We're looking into Chuck E Cheese or Gattitown, possibly Going Bonkers. Just not sure yet. Hopefully I'll get it together soon, since his birthday is in a month and a half!!!
